Mean does

When I had aggressive does I tried putting them in a different style cage or I tried breeding them. Generally breeding was the problem. I've had several that would growl and lunge at you when you opened that cage. A few got moved into hutches and that helped. others would get aggressive every time they were in season. Breeding would help until next time.

i was just thinking...
the only aggressive rabbits ive ever had are two does, argh my best show does, and i got them from big time breeders...
its obvious these breeders didnt socialize them, and im the one paying for it...
ive bred one of the does before, and i had no problem messing with her babies, she was quite a bit nicer then...
you best bet is to breed her.

Dew laps do not mean they are def. females...I have had males with dewlaps, chubby boys lol

Give them lots of treats and while their interested in the treat pet them a little. Thats how we socialized ours. After a while they associate you with the good stuff and are much more eager to see you.

Try this for a week or 2. If their still really mean and scared after that just cull them.

This is just as much for the reply posts as it is for the original post.

Does can be very protective of their space. It isn't a good idea to put a buck in with a doe. Take the doe to the buck's cage for breeding. Does protecting their space can seriously injure another rabbit.

I always kept my does in their own cage. I didn't keep more than one in a cage. When the young were weaned they went into "finishing" cages until they were big enough for the freezer.

It sounds like the two does are not used to human contact. I would take it easy, offer them treats, talk gentle and make no sudden movements. Hopefully they will settle down and get over their fear. My rabbits really liked citrus peels. I never had luck with the story-tale carrots.

I know dew laps dont always mean they are girls, but like I said before I checked them before I left there with the, lol.

They have been in their own cages for awhole day and so far is the same as before. The black will growls and charges the door trying to get me. When I put the food in the feeder she snaps at the food as its falling in.
