Having a bit of a time with my 8 hens. They singled out one hen and nearly striped her head and breast of feathers. Pulled that one out and she is find now. Feathers grown back and she is laying eggs again.
Purchased some "Hot Pick" and sprayed other 7 with hopes to stop pecking.
Noticed the other day another of the seven singled out and pecked. Loaded her up with "Hot Pick" . At least the second victim fights back.
Yes been a long winter and birds have been confined too long. Coop is small so I am figuring that could be issue. What about getting a roster?
We did not get a rooster with the 8 chicks last Spring

In the process of building bigger coop, plus portable runs so the can graze on grass. Too many predictors to allow total free range.

Any thoughts on how to stop thy pecking?

I've got a hen thats been singled out too but besides a bleeding comb a few times she's never been injured. How small of a space are they in?

Make sure your hens have stuff to do. A rooster may only make it worse, for he singles out one hen as his "favorite" and soon her back will be without feathers. You might add a dust bath area, mirror, treat ball (not too often), or other entertainment. I hope this helps.
