I should first say I am somewhat new to chickens. I have 6 female and 1 Silkie Roo. I had a RIR Roo in the past who became aggressive and I waited until dark and took him to a chicken farm. I was told Silkies were "tame, docile, friendly even" my female is all the above I love her, however my Roo has become increasingly aggressive. I have never been able to hold him like my females, but he has now started to jump and run at me, one day it was up to my face allmost. When this happened I'm not going to lie I hit hime with a flyswatter I had in my hand, and it made him stop long enough for me to feed the hens and leave. I then just kept him in the pen and only let the females out and he would run like he was coming through the wire at me. Someone told my husband that Silkies do not have spurs like other roosters and he couldnt do any real damage (I do not believe). Anyway I have started letting him out again and it is like he stalks me, he waits for me to turn so he can run at me, or waits for me to get the feed. I have tried to stand up to him, to be the bigger rooster but it hasnt worked, I have yelled and ran around, he has stopped running. It is to the point that no one goes outside if he is out, and I feel like I cant even clean the coop because he will come after me. I have a small child (3) and 11 year old who I am scared he will attack. Is there anything I can do? Do silikies have spurs? I am scared to pick him up because I am afraid he will go crazy pecking, biting, scratching and yet I dont want to kill him, but I do not know what to do. Please help.

There are threads about rehabilitating roosters, and with some it might work. Given that you have small children, I would suggest getting rid of the rooster before someone gets hurt. Good luck in coming to a resolution with this problem.
