My Rooster/cockerel is starting to get pretty aggressive with the hens. Starting to peck at them around the feed and water containers. Also he is climbing on their backs, don't know if this is him trying to mate or what. I just don't want him to hurt my hens. Do I need to worry about him or is this natural?

Sounds like he's reaching breeding age. Hopefully he'll settle in a few months. As long as he's not drawing blood or being particularly vicious, I'd let them sort it out. Chicken society isn't always cute and fluffy.
