What is the meaning of genetically modified in Texas A&M.
Is it GM as in corn or hybryd as in some of our vegetable seeds.
I would like to have a better understanding of this before I order eggs next month.
Thanks for any help understanding this.

I don't know what genetically modified means in Teaxas A&M, but in general genetically modified means their genes have been modified by some means. This means could be traditional breeding or "modern" gene manipulation like transgenic modifications.

You know, I thought I responded to this thread this morning, but I must have shut down my 'puter before replying. I really don't think there was very much "genetic testing" back in the '60's. I may be wrong (since it happens on a daily occurance), but somewhere along the lines there is some confusion/misconception between "selective breeding" and "genetically enhancing". This thread was started in '08. I tried using search engines Google and Bing (what a joke) to search for Fred Thornberrys' studies on quail, or Lee Cartrights (sp?) testing with quail. The few pdf files that I've found don't really explain if they used Selective breeding or actual genetic testing.
