I have been doing some research on crossing different types DP breeds to create a vigorous hybrid. I am curious if anyone has ever used a Delaware as part of the cross. If you have, please tell me what was the other half of your cross, and what was the outcome. I specifically would like to know how quickly they reach a dressed weight of 4-5 pounds.

Thanks.

I don't have any info, but I'm also interested. I've got 3 Delaware hens and a roo that are 10 weeks old that I want to cross with barred rocks. The br's are only 5 weeks old so I've got some time to go before I have any info for you

try a del hen - br or dom roo and cross end result hens with a meatie roo. i am trying a jg hen with a big dom roo and then cx . have 2 cx hens & 2 cx roos that are 11 days old trying to slow them down to use for breeding but have never tried to use them for this .i hope to get a beter tasting bird that grows faster than a dp without the meatie prob. let me know what you come up with and i will keep you informed on my prog

Here's a few links to threads that mention Delaware crosses, and other crosses as well. I did a BYC search for "Delaware cross", in "meat birds", results shown as posts. There are quite a few, some have more about Del crosses than others, of course. These links are just a few of the results, there are a lot more.
