I am a 1 yr long bird mom and I am considering getting meat birds this year. I have 9 ladies and 2 roo's currently. Do I need a separate coop for the meat birds? Do I need to keep the roosters away from the meat birds? Will the meat birds lay eggs? Again I am a fairly new bird momma so I am looking for all the advice I can get! Thanks

What kind of meat birds are you thinking about getting? Usually you would butcher them long before they would ever produce you an egg. Personally I have gotten meat birds for the first time this year and I am planning on putting them in a tractor separate from my flock. Good luck with your new project!

I am raising meat birds right now, separate from my laying flock. They will be a moveable tractor for protection. People do integrate their meat birds with their laying flock to free range though.

Meat birds don't often make it to laying age. Some do with careful feed management, and will lay eggs.
