Meat Birds dying, HELP I think it's the heat

Wonderful! Did you process them yourself or have someone else do them? I am looking to get some in September also. My DH just finished building their tractor. I have found someone who will process, but they are not close, sooooo. Still looking around.

I just reread your top post and noticed that you were taking them to be processed. duh! Can you tell me who you used for the processing and what you paid?

Thanks!

Ok 2 questions ?Sorry?
What is the difference between meat birds and ordinary chickens?
What I mean is how do you treat them differently.?
And what are the signs of heat stroke?

A meat bird is a cross with special bred parents that produce fast growing off spring that reach market weight at 8 weeks or 42 days in some cases.

Due to this fast rate of growth, they do not at like the picture book chicken.

Heat stroke leads to listless pale birds... but often in meat birds... its dead birds.

Thanks for your promp reply:)

Just that I live in spain and the weather has been very hot.
Average temps here at the moment 35 degrees Celcius.

I take my chickens out to Nunn at Northern Colorado Poultry. Really nice people, but yeah, it's a long way for me too, about an hour or so away. It costs $2.70 a bird or $2.85 if you want the giblets.
