meat birds quick question

Do most of you order day olds or incubate them yourself?

When I got mine they were at TSC and 1 to 2 days old. I bought 13 and only lost one. It was a quick process from start to finish and on my table. I like that.

I am hatching some of my eggs and the roosters will end up as meat birds, they dont have near the feed conversion ratio as a production broiler, I have ordered some broilers from ideal 35 of them, they are due here thursday or friday, and I have 33 eggs that start hatching thursday too!!!

what s the most common breed for meat?
Cornish cross?

I believe the most common meat chickens are cornish and white rock.

The meat birds I have are the Cornish X. I order day olds from a hatchery. Next spring I might try the Rangers, but still all in all, I'll order them from a hatchery. We do have some dual purpose birds, but they are for eggs at the moment.
