meat birds

when raising birds lik coturnix for meat is it neccesary to still have 1sq.ft per bird. i know the breeders do need it but what about the eaters...can they have .5??? jus wonderin.. thanks.. mitch

It's not necessary to give 1 sq ft each but happy healthy quail will generally grow faster and your losses from pecking, etc will be reduced by providing more living space. Just my opinion.
