Hello,
I have a flock of Rhode Islands and a couple little banty hens. I had a hen die of Merecks disease a couple months back and so far everyone is okay with no issues. Lesson learned. I know merecks disease can kick around so this is my question.

I wanted to do a flock of meat birds in the spring. Is this still an okay idea? How far away do they have to be? Any advice would be appreciated.

Ps- what bird is the best with the least issues?

In my opinion, I wouldn't do it. That seems like too short of time to start raising birds again. If you were to do it, I would go as far as possible away and sterilize everything and anything. I would have specific shoes and clothing for each pen that never come in contact with the other. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
