has anyone ever tryed the frying pan special for McMurray. If so how did the do as far as size and taste.

how long did it take to get to eatting size?

thanks

I wish i knew. We bought white rocks and had them processed today and they looked like fryers. They were 12 weeks old and I thought they would be big and round like the ones in the store but they were kinda on the thin side.

Someone will pipe in soon and let you know about the fryers special. I think i was looking for broilers and not fryers.

The Frying Pan Special is essentially males from egg laying breeds like Leghorns. They are small and it would take a while to get any size at all on them. You would be much better off to get the BBQ Special. That is a mix of meat birds.

Quote:
Cornish crosses and White Plymouth Rocks are two entirely different birds bred for entirely different purposes. One is a meat bird totally (Cornish cross) whereas the other is a dual-purpose meant to grow slowly, lay eggs and at the end of their egg-production...be eaten (White Plymouth Rocks).

They should call it the "Please Buy These Birds That No One Else Wants" special. Cassie is correct- these birds are a poor choice for meaties, and it's somewhat misleading that they market them that way.

thanks everyone look like if i want a good meat bird the cornish x rocks would be about the best for me

thanks
