Hello my chick peps.
I have a Cornish cross meat bird who won't walk. He is eating and drinking but doesn't want to walk. Some say they grow to fast and have leg problems. I'm new to meat chickens. Any advice. And his poop is green!! He is in my bath tub with water and food. Is he safe to still butcher.

Cornish X are prone to leg and heart issues. How old is he? What have you been feeding them? Do you restrict feed? Are they pastured?

He should be safe to butcher, and the sooner the better. You can't do anything about the leg issues at this point.

CX are indeed known for out-growing their ability to stand and walk. We've had some that we've butchered on the early side, because they start to have trouble walking. I do check carefully to make sure there is nothing else wrong with them -- clear eyes, not sneezing -- and also look closely at the innards at processing time. If all that looks good, we eat them.

Ok awsome thank you for your help I was nervous because this is our first batch we raised to eat. And at first I was feeding them 24/7 they had access to food when ever they wanted but I guess I can't
Ok

Thanks y'all. That helped I was scared I ain't never had Cornish before. And they do get big quick! He literally can't stand up. But I guess we are having chicken tomorrow for dinner ;). And I'm so new at this posting thing so I'm sorry if I sent a message twice or even three times.
