Meat pen for fair 13 weeks. Will they survive?

I wouldn’t keep them in the dark , these aren’t Cornish hens they are slow growing hybrids .
That’s just cruel , feed a lower protein , I have food at one end and water at the other end , but again this is with Cornish hens that stop moving , these birds are active, at least mine are .

Do what you feel is right , but remember these are not Cornish cross .
You are right. These are very active. I’m going to give less light but not 12 hours of no light. Thanks for your reply.

Hi, I know that I am not on here a lot, but I would not call keeping your birds in the dark at night for 12 hours cruel. I have had birds since 1976, light is like food or water, enough is fine. To keep my parrots from breeding, 12 hours of dark works for me. I know that a chicken is not a parrot. My parrot talks, my chickens could not. Dylan the parrot says, "Let's go" at bed time. She likes it in her dark night time cage in my closet. I know that your meat birds are not the same as my parrot, but I do this for her to keep her from laying too many eggs. I hope this input gives you some understanding of birds. They are not like us in a lot of ways.

Definetly not saying it’s cruel. If it works for you that’s great. I do think they need a little more sun than a parrot.
