Good question! It's my first time with meat birds. Good Orps & Dorkings are dual purpose, but we wanted to try the meaties. I have a feeling we'll do a big order after we process these.

I hope we can process them sooner than 8 weeks.... they really stink!

Oh mine are getting the H$%^ out of my house tomorrow!! I cleaned the brooder box this morning and it already needs to be cleaned out again!! I made this tractor this past weekend!! And I'm going to put them in it tomorrow! What I'm going to do is get a box that has really low sides and place it in there with some hay so they have somewheres to sleep and I will place a heat lamp there too!!

My husband already knew I was crazy! lol! hes been working in cali for 2 weeks now and isn't coming home until the first of april...he hasn't even seen them yet and doesn't believe me when I tell him how much they've grown.

I'm not really doing the 12 hours on and off thing with their food. It stays full in the pen with them...but they are also outside now so I really doubt they're going to eat when its dark....

Nice tractor!! I'm planning to make one too. I read somewhere that you can use the new insulation that looks like silver bubblewrap to make a hover for chicks. That way they're heating with their own body heat.

You have grass! And what are those strange green things on the trees??? Leaves! I have snow covering my mud & frigid temperatures!!

So tired of Syracuse winters... and springs!!! Gonna retire somewhere nice & warm.
