Okay, couldn't even find my fish scale so resorted to the digital bathroom scale. Had DS weigh himself 5 times holding an empty box then had him weigh himself 5 times holding the full box. Came up with a difference of 7.8 lbs, divided by 10. So 0.78 per chick at 2 weeks.
meaties are **3 weeks** today!

I just have to say that I love this, being able to talk/share with everyone else that is raising meaties. My DH could care less about it...err...then again, he doesn't really care about chickens in general...
Looks like I only have one rooster in my group of six. I was kind of hoping for some more so I could process sooner and have bigger birds. And my little chick with the hurt leg is still limping just alittle but is much more lively. She is much smaller than the other ones though at only a pound. I hate to say this...but if she stays small I'm thinking about keeping her.......

I have the same issue at my house - nobody else cares about chickens. Well, they care that A. it's a chicken, and B. it lays eggs or grows meat. Doesn't matter what breed or color or how many... wish the chicken bug would bite them too. I did get some silkie chicks and ducklings today, and though the silkies weren't near as popular as i expected, the ducklings seem to have won my mom over. She had to cuddle each of them.

I have the same issue at my house - nobody else cares about chickens. Well, they care that A. it's a chicken, and B. it lays eggs or grows meat. Doesn't matter what breed or color or how many... wish the chicken bug would bite them too. I did get some silkie chicks and ducklings today, and though the silkies weren't near as popular as i expected, the ducklings seem to have won my mom over. She had to cuddle each of them.

I am soooo excited to have found this thread!!!!! I bought 6 Cornish Rocks from TSC on 3/4/2011.....along with 2 easter eggers..I seperated the EEs and the CRs last weekend, I dod however leave one CR with the EEs..he was having trouble with one leg and the other ramming and bumping him he could hardly stand....he's now back to 100% mobile. I'. going to have to move them out to the 12x12 coop house that I raised my lil red stars in, they're just geting big so quick, they need more room. A couple are almost feathered out anyways, I'll cover the openings in the coop with heavy plastic (wire is already there) and they'll have their heat lamp, since electric is already run out there. I'll see about posting some pics.
Took this pic on the 23rd of 2 of the Cornish rocks....they're more feathered now...and probably bigger. I do let their food run out and on warm warm days I put them outside in the exerpen I had for a litter of pups way back when
Here are mine at 2 weeks. Do they look undersized? My scale must not be right. Yesterday, at 17 days, they weighed between 6.2 and 6.5 oz. Are you guys saying your chicks weigh over a pound at 2 weeks? I was wondering about my scale (postage) so I weighed a 24 oz loaf of bread on it and it said it weighed 25.6 oz. So if anything, it's weighing heavy.
Now I'm worried that I have runts. They seem to have a lot of fat on them. Very squishy.

Mine weighed over a pound at a little over three weeks. I'd say just by feeling them this morning that they weigh at least 1 and a half now at four weeks. Will weigh after while. Don't worry too much: your chicks def. look fat and sassy. Maybe just slow getting started?

I just let our 6 meaties out in the grass with our 3 hens....That didn't go so well. LOL My 2 easter eggers and red star are afraid of them! they ran back into their run and would not come out! Big babies...
Okay, mine are 19 days old today and they are almost completely feathered out. I need to weigh them soon, they are huge!
Looks like I'll process at 7 weeks.
