Will it hurt my 2 adult hens to eat the medicated start and grow that is for the chicks? They are currently on layer pellets, but we are thinking bout introducing the chicks to the broody hen for adoption... and it would be so much easier to have everyone eating the same thing for a while...

We just dont want to do anything to possibly hurt the 2 adult hens at all!

If its because of the eggs containing the meds, its ok, we can live without eating their eggs for a while.

how old are the chicks? are they old enough to switch over to a "flock raiser" it accomodate a variety of ages. If you do feed the hens chick starter (which many on here advise against) make sure to offer oyster shell as there is not enough calcium in the starter

I contacted Purina about this issue a while ago and their answer was that it will not hurt your adult hens. Also the amount of meds does not impact the eggs.

I agree, the start and grow is fine for the hens, but you do know you need to offer the hens oyster sell, right? The start and grow will not have enough calcium for them, and the chicks should not eat much if any of the oyster shell.

oh ya no issues there...there is always oyster shell availiable when they want it. I have it in a high feeder that the adults can access easily.

Thanks for info!! Just makes it a lot easier if I can do all at once, since there are only 2 adult hens.

Appreciate all the help!
