I have been feeding all of my chicks, up to 20 weeks old, medicated chick starter to avoid the possibility of coccidiosis (spelling??). How long do I really need to be feeding them the medicated feed in order for them to have an immunity?
Also, I noticed my laying hens eating some of the chick started that had spilled out of an adjoining run. Somewhere I read that it is dangerous (??) to eat the eggs of a chicken who has consumed the amprolium in medicated feed. If we have unknowingly eaten a bad egg or two what might we expect? The DW is in "panic mode"
.... How much of the medicated feed would it take to cause a problem in humans? How long does it take to "flush through"?
Thanks for any advise and counsel!!
