Medicated feed for wood ducks

I don't see why there would be a difference between wood ducks and every other duckie, but we had this conversation earlier today

Everyone said that chick starter was okay for the first 2-3 weeks (with additional niacin) and then from then on should be on flock raiser until they are of laying age!

This topic largely discussed and everyone has their different opinions. In my opinion if it is just medicated with amprolium they should be fine with that and the added niacin. Amprolium is the only recommended thing for ducks if they have coccidiosis (by dave holderread)

fed it to every duck ever hatched here. you can wait for them to get coccidia or you can stop it from happening. I preferred the prevention method.
The old wives tale of it killing them is from back in the day when they used very harsh meds in the fed.
Amprolium is now used in virtually all brands and is safe for waterfowl

That is good ot know. We have been using the nonmedicated game bird starter mixed with mealworms and Mazuri starter. The wood ducks and mandarins seem to eat and do fine on anything but my others are becoming picking.

The funniest thing is that my breeders like the Southern States floater and not the Mazuri, which is good I guess because of the price. The babies are alot of fun to watch when you through some floating mazuri starter on the water.. it sounds like a type writer
