MEDICATED Starter Grower till...?

The amprolium needs to be fed until chicks have been exposed to the soil where they will be living for about ten to fourteen days, and after that it's not needed. Chicks should be out there way before ten weeks of age! If chicks are living is a plastic bubble, never exposed to soil, that's a problem for them when they get outside, finally.
I have never (so far!) had issues with coccidiosis here, and don't feed medicated feed. If, someday, things change, I'll change my plan too.

I am not saying that your feed has high levels of Amprolium but why continue to feed it if it could potentially cause harm?
Just putting this out there.

Yes, thats why I'm asking. I never heard this till today. Unfortunately I just bought medicated yesterday so I've been kinda panicking. I've never seen anything that says I shouldn't feed it. It's one of those "What you don't know that you don't know" situations.

Oh ok...don't stress about the bag you bought today.
If you have opened use it just don't buy it again.

707EBEBD-F83E-4287-9AD5-16B2B2F4646B.jpeg when i picked up my 6 chicks, i fed one bag of medicated which lasted them about 4 weeks and then I switched them to non medicated starter grower. My turkey poults have been on gamebird. I added chick grit for both when they started spending time outside. I have 15 1-day old silkies arriving this week and plan to do same 1 bag medicated with them. so far no issues with illness nor any lost chicks or poults.

I admit I hadn't planned to feed medicated feed at all even to my 5 week old newbies. When I went to my local feed store the guy there said "Why wouldn't you want to give your young ones a good start?" Being brand new at this that scared me so that's what I've been feeding. I also added vitamins to the water for quite a while, stooped that a few months ago. I read somewhere (maybe The Chicken Chick?) That medicated shouldn't be fed during molt. My gals aren't molting yet but now I'm concerned, hence my question.

Medicated feed usually is recommended to stop at 8 weeks.

That scary report was about HIGH DOSES of amprolium, NOT what's in chick starter!!!
Higher doses are necessary if the birds get sick with coccidiosis, sometimes because they didn't get the low dose in the medicated chick starter.
