I recently got a few ducks, they are doing well, about 3 weeks old. Before I got them I bought a bag of medicated chick starter, which I opened to check it out because I am new at this. I then found out that you can't give ducklings medicated food because they are little piggies and will inadvertently OD. I was wondering if it would be alright to mix the medicated food 50/50 with non-medicated? Yes I am a cheap-skate, but I didn't want to just throw it away either. Any thoughts on this?

This is a debated point on here. You probably need to do your own research and decide for yourself. I don't have ducks so can't even tell you what I would do.

I am currently feeding the ducks med food. I did the same as you, except I was giving them the med food and someone said no you cant do that. I got them the non-med. Then one day they got out and ate the chicks feed. I am now letting them eat the purina start and grow. I do not give them the all you can eat however. I feed them some in the mornings and then again in the evenings. They also get all the veggie leftovers and peas.

Mix the feed- they will be fine to eat either. The medication used nowadays is safe- many years ago it was not but now with the use of Amprolium waterfowl can now be fed medicated feed. Just check to make sure on the packaging if you want to make 100% sure this is what was in the medicated feed if you still have the bag.

You should mix it with cracked corn if you are feeding it chicken feed. Then again, you can always give them less feed. If you see them growing too fast, you should cut the food level and give them more vegetables.
