Is it too early to put medicine in their water to prevent any diseases they may have acquired from the feed store we bought them from?
Just curious. We have 5 baby chicks and they are all healthy, happy and eating well.

Really, if they are happy and healthy, there is no need to medicate them for anything.

There is medicated chick starter that contains amproium, which is just a coccidostant.

Some old timers give antibiotics, but it is now known that giving antibiotics when there is not a bacterial infection or open wound where bacteria can infect, leads to antibiotic resistance that can make infections later on harder to treat. So basically, it makes the situation worse.

Thanks for the tip. We have had our chicks for about a week. We watch them all the time. They live in the house for now until we get their coop ready. We keep changing our mind as to how we want it to look.
The chicks preen themselves all the time, run around the box, sleep, eat and peep. As you can tell these are our first chicks! Thanks again
