Welcome! I too am a Buckeye from Xenia, but the Air Force carried me around the world and the ride stopped in the Midlands of South Carolina. I have an indoor/outdoor cat and he could care less about the girls. You've heard of Richard the Lion Heart, well I have Oliver the Chicken Heart for a cat. Now that they have some size to them, he'd never dream of attacking them as he knows they might peck the stuffing out of him. Once you're girls are alittle bigger, perhaps your cat will decide their not worth the bother. Good luck!

Welcome! I'm sorry about your hen. : ( I have no cats and my chicks aren't outside yet, so I don't have any ideas for you, but hope you find your solution here soon so you won't have any more losses.

Probably wont help you but I let my dog sniff them from day one and he has never harmed one. Just licks them. Maybe a few friendly introductions would help. Or go with the rooster. Would be quicker I think. good luck.
