Hi BYC friends! I was hoping for some help regarding chicken and duck health. I have amoxicillin, Enrofloxacin, and Amtyl (amoxicillin + Tylosin) on hand. I know that starting treatment in a timely manner can be life or death, so what other antibiotics or meds that typically need to be ordered, should I have on hand. I also have metronidazole and carprofen, do you suggest any other meds like this? Thank you!
I have looked at other "first aid kit" type threads, but I'm not really wanting to order each and every med that can be used. I'm looking for med suggestions that could become more difficult to get and things that could be disastrous if I had to wait to order and have the item shipped.

What you've listed sounds like plenty. Tetracycline is another commonly-used antibiotic, but personally, I have only ever used amoxicillin.

I am highly allergic to tetracycline (serious hives in mouth, throat, and all over) but I wonder if it'd be a problem for me if I'm just administering/preparing it? I'd love to get my hands on clindamycin though

Thank you for your reply @BantyChooks

😬 I wouldn't risk it, if I were you. Your current stash sounds plenty; it's far more than I bother to keep on hand.

The more I think about it, the more I agree with you. I didn't have a problem taking the "cycline" family of drugs for years before and just out of the blue, the allergic reaction happened. In the name of safety, I believe I'll steer clear of all "cyclines". Thanks again for everything @BantyChooks
