Hello everyone this is my duckling whos name is goose.. goose is almost 3 weeks old and a quarter the size of his hatch mates.. When my daughter found goose at almost a week old goose was laying on his side in the coop.. she immediately brought him in the house and the next day brought him to me ... he is adorable hes eating and growing slowly, but he does the splits does anyone know what can cause this? Even in water he does the splits and doesnt really swim but stands at the bottom of the sink and dunks his head under ... does anyone have any clues? Could it be neurological or is he missing something ?

Here is a link to leg issues and how to treat.

Are you supplementing with any form of niacin? If feeding chick starter there isn't enough niacin in it for water fowl so we have to supplement by using Nutritional yeast or Liquid B Complex or plain niacin capsules. Goose would need around 125 mgs of niacin daily so 1 Tab of Nutritional yeast per cup of feed, or 2 ML of liquid BComplex daily B Complex can be found at Walmart in the human vitamin section or Nutritional yeast can be found at natural food stores. Both can be bought on line.
