Crowing
Yesterday (October 3rd) we had more button quail hatch. We hatched out the parents of these chicks in April of this year. It's amazing how quickly these birds reproduce!
This is the fourth time hatching chicks in my styrofoam incubator that my husband gave me for my birthday this year (seriously, best gift ever, hopefully he doesn't regret it
haha). He gave me the one with the egg turner and forced air heat source. He also purchased the quail rails to go with it. I'm so glad I don't have to turn these little tiny eggs by hand
Overall they are a healthy and spry little crew. One chick needed it's toes taped overnight. It's still finding it's footing but is keeping up alright with the others.
The parents of these birds were a red breasted male named Flapperton with a red breasted hen named Frosty and a blue faced slate hen named Pip.
We have
One double factor blue face chick,
One blue face slate,
Two that appear to be blue faced cinnamon but could be something else. they have a reddish all over cast with dark heads and no stripes so I'm not really sure.
four red breasted, the darkest one is the one that has wonky legs.
One silver or silver pearl (can't tell until it feathers out).
So happy with how healthy and peppy they are!
