Meet my Chick!

This will be a difficult decision to make. You do have some experience to think on. Remember when you let the other hens go? You regretted it for a little bit but it seems like you have been happy with that decision. Do you regret that decision?

I dealt with this with Jabber. He was much more aggressive than Trump from what you have said. I am still sad about it but I do not regret it. My relationship with the tribe is so very different without a rooster. It is what I enjoy most about the hens. Jabber and I could not coexist and the hens and I have the same relationship.

It also know that it made the last months of Patsy's life enjoyable. They fought constantly. She hated him. While Hattie and he were good together, Lilly and Patsy were very unhappy with him. I felt bad about how they had to live their lives so unhappy.

These are my experiences. You have to make your own decision. Evaluate what you want from owning chickens, what you want your relationship to be, and then pray on it. The right thing will come to you.
This is all so helpful! I do not regret rehoming the bantams! I was very sad about it because I did love them so... but I know they are happier where they are! I may not be as upset for TRUMP as I do not love him like I loved them...

And I also do not like how unhappy some are.. especially Sunny... but then there’s Claudine and Clementine.. who are is “sisters”... I think they will be devastated 😔

He seems to be a little more cocky now and he also seems to be mating with everyone a lot more than before... I was wondering if this was because he thinks he’s #1 now or it’s because it’s spring 🤷‍♀️

Thank you for your thoughts on this! I have a decision to make one way or the other 🙄

Well, you've listed both great pros and cons for having a rooster. I can understand your fear of him right now, maybe you could give it a week or so to see if you can push past the fear you have of him and see if it was a one time thing, then if you can't, maybe you should let him go. It's not much fun to be afraid.
When I got my flock, I decided that I wanted a rooster for flock protection. Sadly it took losing Madeleine for them to learn there is danger from above, but now they know and I think they are doing a good job. Trump has been good about protecting your flock too.
He does do a good job.. but they really don’t need too much protecting as I keep them in a closed yard with string tied on top...
Yea, it’s no fun constantly being on alert.. when I go in there now I bring a stick .. just in case 😳
Thank you for your thoughts!

Okay... now for the cuties!
