I haven't taken my weekly photos for 10 days! Oops. I think I'll wait to take them on Wed when they turn 5-6 weeks. They are getting so big, still sound like babies, but are starting to make some big bird noises. They are so sweet. The follow me around and talk to me any time I'm in their sight.

As for the coop, we are going to look at a prebuilt coop this week. I found someone who makes them about 90 minutes from where I live. It measures 4x10ft, costs $1250 and has wheels to move it around if I want to. It looks much better than what we planned to build and will take all the stress out of my husband trying to do it. Hopefully he gives me the okay. Maybe I'll take a couple OT shifts at the hospital to coerce him.

Here's the coop, the second image is a smaller coop finished with hardware cloth;

I also decided to hang their feeder and waterer after asking for solutions in another post.

I'm going to do that after a week or two -- if only because I'm working too many shifts this week to have the time. What kind of twine did you use?

I'd be concerned with the ventilation on that coop. Both heat and ammonia rise so what you really need is generous ventilation at the very top. Also, that big window has no awning so any blowing rain will get the coop wet inside -- always a no-no.

That should be a relatively easy fix though -- maybe it would appease your husband's construction urges if he were to remove the siding at the top of the front wall, add hardware cloth, and put a roof awning over it to keep the rain out?
