Most of my cockerels don't start crowing until 4+ months. I've never had an early crower myself, but folks here have had them start trying as young as he is now.
Phil should crow in another six weeks or so. Funny story, and it happens all the time it would seem. I had a Henry become a Henrietta, so it does happen. Just another reasons to keep chickens I suppose.
I had a little snot of a rooster (turken) that started crowing at TWO weeks old, while he was still in the brooder on the screened porch, right next to our bedroom window. My most recent early crower is an adorable crossbeaked sebright. He's been crowing since ten weeks old and sounds like a squeaky toy, after one of the dogs has chewed holes in it.
Sweet! I have a peanut... she that we thought was a he.. she has a tall comb for a rose comb and even has little spurs. it was weeks before I was convinced he was a pullet! Good thing the name was good for either!
