What a cutie, and Congrats on your new little addition, Are you considering getting your lil duckling a friend? they do so much better if they have another duckling to grow up with.

I have considered it; yes. However, it might not be possible with the regulations in my town. (I live in northern NJ) As it is, I would already have chickens if it weren't for the town ordinances.

So, I have to be discreet about whatever I do. More ducks = more mess, more noise, etc.. But, we'll see. If we get a chance to obtain another around the same age, I would definitely consider taking it in.

It was sure sweet of you to take the lil one in,it sure wouldn't have lasted long on it's own. I know you'll do the best you can for it they sure have a way of climbing right into our hearts.

Oohh hi! I'm a Mallard duck mother, too! We found this baby in my neighbor's bushes. We had actually just seen her mother and siblings three hours prior, but when we went looking, we couldn't find her ANYWHERE! We couldn't even find her where she had always been before - my other neighbor's house, eating. It was really sad. But, I'm really happy anyways. She's been soooo rewarding!

My Mallard baby is ten days old. Her name is Pyrrhos.

Hi Zombified! Nice to 'meet' you. I'm sure we will have lots to talk about. I don't know how old Peepers is. But, I would guess not much older than Pyrrhos!

I'm only guessing at Pyrrhos's age. I think she was a day old/born the day I found her. I know for sure she's younger than two weeks, though. It was fairly easy to make an educated guess on her age due to her markings and general personality - definitely easier than dogs XD Coming from someone who works with dogs for a living lol.

You might have answered this already, but are you getting a companion for your baby? This Friday I'm going to get a couple of Magpie babies. Although, if they end up being siblings, I might end up getting a Magpie and a Pekin. I don't want the siblings to end up breeding(I'm going to be careful and pick up any and all eggs, but I'm not perfect lol).
