Hey all, it’s joe, and for this Xmas I’m getting an allotment and I have a list of the birds I want, but what do you guys think? The space between each bit of writing means a seperate coop :p

White silkie hen x5
White silkie cockerel

Black Minorca hen x7
Black Minorca cockerel

Rhode Island Red hen x3
Brown leghorn x3

Pekin duck
Pekin drake
Cayuga duck

Guinea fowl x5

Embden goose
Embden gander

All advice welcome! Thanks in advance...

Also can they all free range together when my mum isn’t growing vegetables?

Yes they can free range together but the ducks and geese will be quite messy. You'll need more duck hens for your drake if you want to avoid over-breeding. I like to give my drakes four hens for one drake. I've never raised geese but i'd do the same for them or just get two female geese. Guineas are extremely hard to sex and hatcheries don't sell them sexed so if you still want them i'd suggest getting them when adults. And as long as they all have separate coops i think they'll all be fine ;)

Thank you very much, I will probably just get female ducks and geese

Also, what is the minimum space for guineafowl, chickens, ducks and geese? I’ve heard different answers!

(I know it sounds kinda dumb but I just wanna make sure)

I agree with @lazy gardener

As for free-range, I wouldn't suggest it. The roosters from each coop may try and fight each other to be the top rooster. Also, if they aren't raised together from chicks, the Silkies may get picked on for their down feathers.

Best wishes! :)

an allotment
Is an allotment usually located away from where you live?

The space between each bit of writing means a seperate coop
Is there space, and resources(money), to make 6 separate coops and runs, all of adequate size?

I would suggest that you start much smaller, perhaps with a small mixed flock of chickens, and wait till you are experienced with them before adding the extra birds to your menagerie.

OH no I think the message came across wrong, this is my END game plans, for the first six months your only allowed chickens. I have experience with chickens and ducks as my family has raised them for years

1. Yes my allotment is a 20-30 minute walk, or a 5min drive.

2. Hopefully
