Hey Everyone!

I have to clean and disinfect my coops and runs. Flock had MS and MG. Some members had both and some only had one or the other. I did have 1 hen that was fighting 2 infections as well, not sure exactly what the 2nd infection was. Info I have found is all over the place. The common fact I could find said it does last 3-4 days on surfaces, clothing, etc Is that just for MS, MG or both?

After disinfecting it says to leave coop and run empty from anywhere to 2 wks, 3-4 wks, 6 months up to 8 months.
My main coop was a 12x12 metal shed with untreated or unpainted wood and roosts inside. Nest boxes were also the same. I plan on burning the nest boxes and roost. Also dealt with mites ( red mites, scaly leg mites and northern mites). 2nd coop was a producers pride defender coop ( getting burned) and 3rd was a 4x4 one made of pallets ( also getting burned). Main run is about the size of 6-7 12x12 sheds while 2nd was an 8x8 run. 3rd was about the size of 4 12x12 sheds.Yes, this will be a process. At this point had chickens for 7 years, hence all the different areas.

I have read that Virkon or Oxine is good or using a diluted bleach mix. Not sure if I should just clean once now then do another before I get chicks? Or clean now, then wait another month, then do another clean? Or do a clean, then go around with just a spray bottle every week or so? Ultimately if I have to go for the max amount of time, I'm fine with that. Can anyone clarify any of this?

How long does MG last on surfaces? Last on run/ bare ground?

How long does MS last on surfaces? Last on run/ bare ground?

How long to keep coop/ run empty?

Best cleaner to use? Steps to take?

After spray cleaner, do I just let air dry? Do I need to scrub down? Does it need rinsed off?

Do I just spray on ground/ run area and leave it?

More than likely I will do this clean and disinfect now, and before I introduce new chicks, will probably clean again since it will be sitting empty. ( During that time new nest boxes, storage and roosts will be made. Runs redone, plants planted, Partial enclosed runs completed, etc. Chickens will ultimately be moved to a new spot for the new main coop, but the 12x12 will be used for new chicks and storage. I should post the PLAN in a new thread.

Any info and recommendations are appreciated. Sorry this is so long!

Old pics from 2 years ago. I have since added a 2nd pen on the other side of this with the pallet coop.
