(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Not new, I first got them 2-3 years ago and raise them at least once a year. I have broody hens, an incubator, and we buy at TSC also.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
17 and a baby chick
(3) What breeds do you have?
Oh boy, here we go:
Barnyard Mix
Black Star
Rhose Island Red
Welsummer
Easter Egger
Buff Orpington
Blackstar/RIR cross bred
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love the feeling of going outside and seeing the little idiots chasing each other around the yard. I watch them a lot and take the chance to find out about Pecking Orders.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Raising rabbits, mini donkeys, ducks, any animal. I also like gardening and horseback riding. pretty much anything nature. Especially hiking.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live in a house with 5 siblings and it's hectic. We have so many pets and children we're practically a zoo. I go to school but it's a dream of mine to be a Vet. This site has helpful people who I've been reading and learning from since 2 years ago.
7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I looked up stuff a few times and it kept appearing. I eventually just got on when I had an emergeny and forgot to do this. So, I am now.

Well, it's an interesting story:
So, my sister wanted to hatch a chick. So, I grabbed an egg and put it in my bator. We candled it 6-7 days later and I couldn't find anything. So I think, 'Great, dead." My sister tells me not to give up. We left it in there with the egg turner and yesterday was my sisters birthday. The night before she asked for a chick and we went out together. When we got home, one runs up front and tells me that it hatched. I'm confused and then I remember what happened. It is now her birthday present from me and we are planning to get some more to be her friends. We named her Cherry Pepsi.

Oh my goodness, what a cute story! Congrats on a 100% hatch rate... lucky! She'll be so happy to finally get some friends her own age. Good luck!
