Members in Hawaii With Ducks ???

I was wondering if there were any members that live in Hawaii that have ducks and if so what breeds???
I've read that ducks aren't allowed in Hawaii..

No closer to finding out... I have sent her a message though. But these two pages might be interesting to you - One says no ducks- the other says ducks need a permit. Maybe anyone applying for a permit is turned down

Thank you Duckfromoz.. hopefully your friend will chime in... My sister is talking about moving to Hawaii this summer... She can't have ferrets there ( she has rescued them for 20 years..I think she would love to have ducks once she is settled there.. plus if we ever move there I want to be able to have the ducks that I like... and was checking to see if they are available there and if not how I can get them...

I think I might take the information from the government's web site instead of from a hatchery. It looks to me like an expensive proposition to take ducks, but it sure looks like it could be done.

I would contact the proper agency in Hawaii if I wanted to take ducks. The USDA Veterinarian probably also has the correct information.

It's possible that you would have to show that you could keep the ducks confined.

Hi. I am Duckie's friend. I'm not sure what the rules are there. My sister doesn't keep ducks. I know she had to get a bunch of vaccinations for her cat an make sure they were all up to date. I have heard it is kind of hard to get animals there. I know they try to regulate. I think I heard something about a bunch of wil chickens. Sorry I can't be much help. I asked her and she has no idea.

I don't know about Ducks but I agree about checking the website, etc. I do know it is more difficult to ship a dog/cat to Hawaii than it is to Europe, etc. Need to start several months in advance so that timing is OK for rabies testing and repeat vaccines(they don't have rabies there). I know someone that brought his cats back, tried to do everything to return to Hawaii, missed a step and was looking at like 120 days quarantine. It can cost thousands of dollars for the long term quarantine but can skip this for just days if all the "hoops" are done. FYI

I googled Craigslist Hawaii and under farm and ranch there are lots of ducks for sale. So yes, there are ducks in Hawaii.
