Hi, I am here! I am about 99 miles from Memphis. I am new to chickens, but have fallen in love with having them.
So glad to know some other chicken keepers are near!

Definitely. I've just started keeping chickens, as well. I've been reading everything that I can get my hands on, though. It would be good to keep up with chicken people who live near so we could all help one another. I'm going to pick up some layers from a guy in Mason, TN tommorrow. He is on memphis craigslist. just do a search for chickens.

Me too. I have a family of bantams now and am picking up some laying hens tomorrow from a guy in Mason, TN. I saw a post from a person who lives in Memphis, though. Username is herechickchick. I hope to continue to collect chickens and inevitably there will be more that I will not be able to keep. I'll keep in touch.

I, personally, like dominiques, barred rocks, and I like the looks of cuckoo marans. I really would like a few sweet egg laying hens for the backyard. I've gto a family of bantams, but they're pretty much pets because the hen is broody and the chicks are a long way from laying. here is a pic:

So glad to meet you all...

mjjobbins - Your bantams are so pretty! I drove about 100 miles to Memphis yesterday and got a blue roo (BLRW) and some cochin pullets from herechickchick. He was very nice, his house was easy to find and my chicks are beautiful! Did you pick up the hens from the guy in Mason, TN?
What kind were they?

ginasmarans - Are the cuckoo marans pretty friendly? I think they are really beautiful!
