I really hope my black legshane (or however you spell it) show quality cock that was hatched out of a egg that as shipped from famous show lines in California, does not have Merak.
His symptoms are as follows:
  1. loss of weight over that last 2 weeks
  2. runny nose (last few days)
  3. loss of energy
  4. broken feathers, but no lice/mites
  5. ravenous appetite but no weigh gain
The vet is not an option, I am close to driving but not yet able, and my parents will not take me nor will they pay for it :( I finally caged him, he was out free-ranging before.

I just gave him two eggs, he did not want any very full crop. I also put a heat lam on him.

Great news, he looks a little better. I think he was just not doing to well in the cold weather we have had.

How old is he? Glad that he is doing better, and sorry that no one answered your earlier posts. Chickens should not have runny nostrils. I would keep an eye on him for sneezing, gasping for air, crackles or wheezes when breathing, or watery or bubbly eyes. Respiratory diseases can cause some of those symptoms. MG or mycoplasma gallisepticum can be passed through hatching eggs. Hopefully he just had some nasal irritation from some dust or something in the environment.
