Ok we have recently bought some baby ducks. We have them in a large pen and are using shavings for their pen. Of course they are messy, however I have no idea what the little stinkers did the other day but they got themselves all dirty (we clean the pen 1-2 times a day) but they got themselves so dirty. So they have yuck on their backs or belly's just depends. I want to get their fluffy cute feathers cleaned off. I was wondering how I needed to do this. I heard that I can not put them in some warm water and gently rub it off because I will make them to cold...I wanted to get warm water, gently rub the yuck off, then dry them off with a towel. Would this work, or can I not do this? I just want to get them clean again
How old are the ducklings? I let mine swim/bathe from about 2 days old. You just have to limit their bath time to just a few minutes at first and only have water up to their bellies. As they get older they can swim longer and have slowly deeper water. Once they've cleaned themselves off take them out and dry them gently with a towel, then put them right back under their heat lamp to finish drying. Just watch them very carefully to make sure they don't get waterlogged or too cold.
They are going 1 week and 2 days old I will do that! I feel so bad they are dirty want to get them cleaned up I have no idea what in the world they did to get the way they did but I will let them paddle splash in a bath tonight
