I got 8 pretty girls and a rooster.. All are doing well but I noticed today that ones little rear is nasty.. Should I bathe chicken or will this cause trauma.. Im heading out for 2 weeks and need to know what to do? Family will be caring for the girls when I am gone, but not like I would..
Thanks for your help.

I would bathe her and see what’s causing the nasty rear. It shouldn’t cause trauma. My chicken actually enjoyed it after a few minutes. Bathing her would be the first step

I would take a good look before bathing.
Get down to the skin, clip nasty feathers 1/2" from skin to reduce clinging in the future.
How bad is it?
Some fluffier butted birds are just more likely to have some poop stick to feathers and don't preen it off.
Or are her butt feathers caked with wet poops?
