Messy nesting boxes

My pullets just started to poop in there nesting boxes. They have never done this before. It started last week in one nesting box, but through all last week it has spread to all the boxes. I have cleaned out the boxes but they still poop in them. Why have they started doing this and is there anything to do to stop this?

Close off the nesting boxes until the chickens are ready to lay.

They sometimes already lay there eggs on the floor or outside, I don't want to take the chance all of them will now lay there eggs on the floor. If you mean to block them off before they start laying, they have been laying for several months now, they started laying when they were 5 months and they are now 9 months. Thanks for the input, got any other ideas?
