Metal nesting boxes with egg retrieval, (question) chickens won’t use it. Help please.

Hi,
I purchased one of those metal nesting boxes. With artificial turf. Is it worth it to try to get them to lay in this box? One was but the other one doesn’t. Now they are laying them on the coop floor.
Any ideas? Or should I cut my loses and get another box or make one?
Any suggestions or ideas are appreciated.
Even suitable nesting boxes. That do not cost what this one did!

Try hanging a curtain over the front of the nest boxes.

What kind of bedding is on the floor?
How old are your birds and how long have they been laying?
Are the nests new or have you had them all along?

They are young. 5 months. On the floor is sand.
