I use both since my chickens free range, and I have waterers inside and out. Plastic 1 gallon ones with screw on bottom (Little Giant) and the metal 2 gallon Little Giant are high quality for my uses. The ones from Tractor Supply rust quicker or leak (just my opinion.) If using apple cider vinegar it has to be in plastic. Hog pans, both rubber and metal are very good waterers too.
I only have 3 chickens but have two waterers - one is plastic, the other metal. I keep the plastic one filled with ACV water, the metal one is in their run and has regular water.
I had a hard time finding a feeder I liked so I made my own inspired by one on this website.

I made a smaller version of the "Folgers Feeder" but mine is only one can with a square plastic container attached to the bottom to hold the feed. It is a hanging feeder and I love it. The top stays secure so no rain or chicken poo in it and the girls can't scratch the feed out. My only expense was $1. for the square container at the Dollar Store!
