I looked into software suggested by red4x4. Appears suitable to your needs so long not to many breeders involved. You will still need to mark birds. If you have chicks, then play around with permanent markers to make certain marks legible. Also in respect to data, back it up and store copies in very different location. I even backup my ledgers.

See, that's what I was thinking also. The program is great and easy to keep things in one spot, but I would really like to have things on paper as a back up and have them in a file box of some sort.
