Fishzole is 250mg metronidazole. It comes 30 pills to a bottle and 60 pills to a bottle.

Meditrich is 100mg metronidazole.

Ebay also has these items, so shop around!

The minimum effective dose for treating blackhead is no less than 30mg/kg by mouth once a day for five days. The most I have heard of vets prescribing is 50mg/kg twice a day for up to 14 days.

Dosing info:

From the AAAP Avian Disease Manual:

TREATMENT
There is currently no approved medication for treatment of histomoniasis in food animals. Small groups of birds not being raised for consumption can be effectively treated individually with metronidazole at a dose of 30 mg/kg orally SID for 5 days. Antihelmentic treatment may help suppress the population of cecal worms.

Cheapest place I found was from my vet. She ordered a 250 count bottle for me that cost me .16 per tablet. Same shape and same numbers and lettering as the Fish Zole. I think her desk help told me that it was going to be .44 per tab if I ordered 100, I ordered tow bottles but when they saw the savings of ordering a 250 count bottle they just went ahead and got me the 250. They are good to me that way.
