My order from metzer hatchery arrived today and one of my ducklings were dead. I'm surprised they did not put any extra's. Has anybody ever refunded from Metzer Hatchery? If i refund will i be able to get the same breed? And how long would it take for me to retrieve the refunded duckling?

I have had great experience with metzer. He stands by his birds and his business 100%.

If you lost just one, they won't be able to ship a replacement safely by itself. What they will do is either refund your cost for the one bird, or if you plan on ordering again from them they will add it at no cost to your next order-- even if its not until next year.

Simply call them up and report your loss, and if you want the "raincheck" on the duckling rather than the refund they'll tell you to phone in your next order and remind them of your freebie when you do.

I don't know how many you ordered, but they generally do not include extras on small orders-- a lot of people order few ducklings because they only have room for the number they order.

That is what I've observed according to other people who have ordered from them. If they arrive dead or died within a day or two of arriving, they will refund your money or take it off another order. From what I've seen, they don't put extras in for orders of less than 10, I think, if they do it at all.

They are all correct. Just call us at 1-800-424-7755 and we can arrange a credit, a free bird with your next order or.... we can replace the lost bird but we must send another with it as our minimum is two. If you want a specific breed for the second bird, you pay for it. If you don't care, then there is no charge for the second bird.
Another reason we may not send an extra is if we are very short on the breed(s) you ordered and don't have any extra. Our extras are only the breeds you ordered.
Thank you!

Sorry for the "what if" but if one of the replacement ducks die on the way there's no more replacements right?

You seriously need to call them and not post random what ifs online. Its the only way you will get direct and fast answers from the business itself.

As John said above, if you had 1 duckling die in your order, they are happy to ship a new one, BUT they have to send a second as traveling warmth companion. If 1 of those 2 happen to pass away you still got your replacement you were owed and now are owed nothing further.

Its a risk associated with shipping and as the buyer you have to be aware of that and agree to take the risk too.
