Could someone help my lovely goldie is making a mewing sound like a kitten and is a bit docile shes drinking but not quite herself is this a sign of an illness

many thanks

Is she eating? Does she look heathly? If her eyes are red, her bum pasty, or anything else unusual, she might be sick. Is she old enough to lay and if so has she continued to lay? Sometimes birds will act different with weather change. You may want to bring her inside and feed her scrambled eggs.

she is eating and drinking walking around no redness or pasty bum she is just under year old, but its as if she has lost her voice

Listen closely to her breathing and see if you hear a wheeze. If you do its likely she might have a respiratory tract infection or virus. Please check this and post back . If she is wheezing, coughing, or has mucus present you can treat by using Tylan 50. The dose for large birds is 1/2cc small birds 1/4 cc given once daily for 5 days into the breast muscle. When they are ill I like using injectable over water soluble powder because the dose is more consistent and not contingent on amount drank like water soluble. When they are ill they don't usually eat or drink as much and dose is difficult when they aren't drinking with a water soluble antibotic. This is why I choose injectable. You can get tylan50 and syringes at the feed store. Only use if she has a wheeze or cough or mucus. Give her a good check and post her symptoms exactly and perhaps we can help. Check her crop, make sure its not hard and its functioning properly. Check her vent for any discharge or egg binding, check for bugs on her person, check for mucus or coughing or sneezing, are her eyes bright? How is her poo? Color and consistently? Check her body for any harm. How long has it been since you wormed her? Check all these things then post back Exactly what you find. Perhaps if we know more we can be of help. I wish you the best.
