Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

There's some serious squatting going on!! Both RIR's, Izzy the EE and surprisingly Jr. the Cuckoo Marans. She walked right up to me, started chatting away and then squatted down before I even reached down to pet her! They are all so funny. I watched a video of it on YouTube to make sure I knew what to look for and I got a pic of one of my RIR's shaking her whole body after a good back scratch!! Does this mean eggs could come any day or would I still have a few weeks to wait? Finally got some pics. 18 weeks old: Big Red -RIR this is after she squatted and I gave a nice back scratch - she did the big shake move!! Henrietta The next 3 are of Junior the Cuckoo Marans: Izzy EE Izzy again: BeeBee EE: Cleo EE Stella -Buff Brahma Mrs. Puff EE
I love junior!! She is really pretty. And Izzy seems like a lil ham, she loves to take pics it looks like!

Izzy has gotten very friendly in the past few weeks. All my EE's were terrified of me when they were chicks. I guess the closer they get to laying the friendlier they get?
Junior is always at my feet too and Henrietta my BR is just a complete nosy-body. She has to always see what's going on if I'm doing something. I love all their different personalities!!

WOW your BA's comb/wattles are huge!!! She's so pretty!! Mine looks like a teenager compared to yours! I forget if yours is laying yet... is she 22 weeks??
My 2 are both at the top of the pecking order and one tries not to let anyone near me when I'm feeding treats from my hand till she's done. If I purposely neglect her for a bit and give them
to other girls she storms off squawking. Are yours like that?

Yeah, her comb and wattles got crazy big in the last few weeks. She started laying 2 days ago. Yes, 22 weeks old.
Our BR is the top of the pecking order. We used to have a BO that shared that position with her so the BA and EE were second in the chain of command. Now that the BO is gone (she was the meanest to newcomers) the BR rules the roost alone. She isn't mean to the rest of "her" flock though they definitely follow her.
When we first introduced our "middle" flock to the big girls the big girls were really mean to them (well mostly the BO but they all had a part in it). The result of that is that our middle flock hardly ever comes over for treats. The "little" girls (our polish) on the other hand have it much easier since the meany is gone. And they come and steal treats right out from under the big girls. It still amazes me to see that. Makes me glad we got rid of the BO. Don't worry we didn't just throw her to a new flock. We brought in 2 new chickens that the same friend would take and we kept them here with our girls for a few months. Then when she took 4 of the chickens home they at least knew each other and formed their own flock. She is doing really well in her new home and actually laid an egg at least a week before any of her hatch mates did!

As promised, here are some pictures of my chicks that arrived this morning!

Here they are when we got them home, ready to be unpacked from their Meyer's box.

Finally in the brooder! After a quick beak dip in water and being shown where they can get warm by the Brinsea, they start to drink and eat.

Yeah, I had to put something under their water to raise it up so they wouldn't stand in it. LOL

And here we have the Black Australorp and the little Barred Rock in front. The Barred Rock is doing much better now, thank you!

Here we have two of the spunkier members of the chick posse. A Rhode Island Red and a Brown Leghorn. So far, I can see the Brown Leghorn running the roost one day. Very feisty!

The one in the back is the Buff Orpington and in the front is the Golden Buff. Both are very sweet chicks.

As much as I tried, I just couldn't get a good picture of the two Easter eggers together! So, here they are separately...

Easter Egger #1 is my most fluffy chick by far! Her cheeks are insanely poofy! Very sweet disposition, too.

Easter Egger #2 have very distinct chipmunk markings on her back. Not quite as fluffy as the other one, but still impressive enough fluff!

That's it for now!

Oh how cute they all are!!! I can't wait to see what your EEs look like!!! How's the BR today?

They are just too cute, this one is by far my favorite. I've never seen one with such fluffy cheeks at such a young age. I agree with Nancy, can't wait to see what the EE's look like when they're older. Have fun with your little ones! Glad to hear the BR is improving. Those first few days are scary when some are not doing as well as others.

I know! It's exciting to see what EEs look like when they grow up! And the ones I have are insanely fluffy. It's easy to see that the fluffier one is going to have an insane beard! LOL I already know I will be adding one or two more of them to my flock in the future years to come. Nice mellow but active chicks.

The little BR is doing great and keeping up with the others now with no problem! Thank you for asking.

I do believe that if I had left things to fate she would not of made it. She is easily the smallest of my chicks and was so very lethargic. If shipping had taken another day, I'm not sure she would of made it to me. But fortunately for her, they got here to me in just over 12 hours from when they left Ohio. Pretty amazing. Today, she's being spunky and bright, and determined to not be on the bottom of the pecking order! She very friendly towards me, too, probably because of all the time we spent together yesterday.

I love baby pictures! :love The only one of your set that I have from Meyer's is the Light Brown Leghorn. 9 and a half weeks later, I can hardly remember her being that little ball of fluff! So sweet. :love

They all too quickly go from this:

I know they grow fast! I love them being fluff balls, but I also look forward to seeing them grow. It's really a cool process. I keep reminding my husband and 2 kids that these chicks will be babies for a while yet, but won't be tiny little fluff balls for long. That their days in the house are numbered as they will quickly out grow a reasonable brooder or indoor space! I both dread and look forward to them going out to their outdoor coop. I'm probably going to take them for a romp in the great outdoors in a few days if it's warm enough.

Geeze! I feel like I'm talking about my human kids! LOL
