Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Oh no. I guess that either works wonders or not at all. Tough decision to make.
so true

Awww, crud. I guess it's just her nature. Absolutely nothing you can fix. Maybe try Craigslist. You may get a taker... either for eggs or for eating. Or, maybe soup for you???
Easy for me to say, I'm still sitting here with my mean RIR. I haven't been able to crate her cause it's still goes to freezing at night and if she is alone she'd be pretty cold. But I don't think she'll stop either, she is just obsessed with any of them in the nest and patrols the area all day long.
Just wondering if maybe the BA and CW have no head feathers cause of her? She pecks all their heads when they are in the nest.
Yeah, guess she was born that way.

She was hopping on her fellow chick mates at around 4 to 6 weeks old too which made me wonder if she was a rooster. Maybe she was born with too much testosterone?

My DH is going to help me take care of her. Should be an interesting day here.

Not looking forward to it but it needs to be done. Sorry if anyone is offended by this.

I waited until it warmed up here for the same reasons you're waiting on yours. You may be very surprised how your whole flock acts once you move her out of your coop. I bet that could be the problem with your BA and CW if she had been attacking them.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear it didn't work out with Daisy. It's for the happiness of your other birds that you have to take care of business. Be strong!

We sold a bunch of chicks today. We came home with 5 that we still need to sell. Then we have a couple we're holding onto to see who we want to keep.

We are at hatching day for our 3 cream legbar eggs but no pips yet. I saw movement on day 18 but I'm losing hope now. :(
This will be our last batch of eggs at least until I have free ones to get the kinks worked out with.

Thank you, we finally took care of her so it is done now. I won't go into details, but at least now I know I can take care of things when I need to. My DH was a big help too. So glad it is over with now.

Did you go and get more chicks today too? Good luck with the cream legbars, I hope they still hatch for you.

It must have been hard to do the first time. But I'm sure your flock will be so much happier now.

We didn't get any chicks today, but we sold 9. :)
We have a pip! Hopefully the other 2 pip too. If not, this one better be a girl!
Anything today??

It sure wasn't easy, but I know what changes to make next time so I do it more correctly. I feel much better about it this morning after a good nights sleep and watching the other 21 hens get along so well now.

..and x 's 2 for trsturself.... I hope the little chicks made it out okay?

We had one chick hatch overnight. Pretty sure it's a boy. :(
The other two eggs have no signs of life. I'll give them until the end of today before tossing them.
We're going to keep the boy since we're looking for a house with land right now. If we find something I think we'll have two roosters. The maranX we hatched and this little guy.

Sorry it is just one. One of these days you'll have this hatch thing figured out and you'll be telling us how to do it too!

Love to see pics of the little guy when you have them.

I've been reading of a lot of people having trouble with the CCLs. I wonder if they are more delicate or maybe just late hatchers?

I don't know if they are late hatchers or delicate. We haven't had good hatch rates with anything so I think it's our incubator, not the breeds/eggs.

Updated pics of the chicks we hatched...
3 weeks old now

Silver Silkie

Barnevelder/Copper Maran - Look at that comb! It popped up overnight!

Frizzle cochin

This silkie is looking Lavender. It's so pretty!

This is the silver silkie with the newly hatched legbar

Here is the legbar. I'm not sure of the sex yet. Waiting for it to finish drying. I was leaning toward male because it looks like a spot on the head but now that it's a little drier I see the dark eye stripe and dark stripes on it's back. Time will tell!
