Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I would love to know where the Greenville hatchery is. I live in Urbana and would love to pick up the next ones we get instead of having them shipped if they're as nice as the ones we just got from Meyer's!

The place I went to in Greenville was just a breeder not a hatchery, and she unfortunately doesn't have hers anymore :/ sorry! Check Craigslist, there's a few cream legbar breeders usually on there- maybe one is close enough to you :)

I would definitely suggest 2! I got 2 from a breeder here in Ohio and I LOVE

them. They have the best personalities. Energetic, but when you handle them they are so calm! It's like they just melt in your hands. One of them (her names Poppy) is the most photogenic of any chicken I have ever had. She just stares into the camera when I hold her- I can even position her head how I want it haha!

Gotta love those poufy crest feathers

Ok that's enough, I literally have like 40 great pictures of her..

On another note, my 7-8 week old babies now have access to the big girl pen... I'm so nervous though! Guess I gotta suck it up, I've heard the integration into the flock goes smoothest at this age- big enough to be with the big gals but small enough they aren't as much of a threat. Still nerve wracking!!
Definitely getting 2! SOOO PRETTY!!!!! Plus blue eggs!!!!

Our little BO (apricot) is still hanging in there. Got her to drink a little bit twice now. She is just sitting hunkered down in some towels with her eyes closed. We're not disturbing her. I hope she breaks out of the shocked stage fairly quickly.
I did some research and kombucha is good to give to them so I'll give her some of that next time I make her drink. It has a lot of health benefits so hopefully it will help her heal.

And cute egg too... do you know who laid it? it couldn't be a first egg for one of your girls could it?
Nope not a first egg, they're all too old for that. "Too old" being a year to almost a year.

I think it may be Cuckoo the Cuckoo Maran, she just started back after being broody a couple weeks ago. I think I have a few of the younger ones molting a little too. Nobody seems to have a bad molt though.

Hope she is still doing well.

I decided on a name for the one roo that is left...Pepper. I keep calling him Peppy though, probably because DH calls him fluffy. Poor chicken! Anyway, I hope he is not too lonely. He hides from the girls all day long and roosts out in the run alone at night. I put him in the coop a few nights on a row, but he doesn't seem to like those meanies LOL! He's 11 weeks now, so when will he become the leader/protector? Is this like waiting for an egg? 20 weeks+? He is getting a nice big tail now.

And what about egg storage? Can I still use my LynnSkelter when there are fertilized eggs? It's not warm enough in the house for any kind of embryo development, right?

She is doing much better. Both eyes are open and she's actively drinking on her own. Her crop was still full this morning (I think her body shut down with the shock) so I haven't given her much food yet. We gave her a spoonful of yogurt so far. The kombucha has blackberries in it so she's been picking those out. She loves the kombucha. It really perked her up more than plain water. We'll leave her inside the next couple days until she is up walking around. She's still mostly hunkered down, but at least she's chirping again and seeking out drinks.

Your house would need to be 99deg before egg development started. For your sake I hope it's not that hot.

You would think I would learn!!! But tonight I was cooking dinner & the small human who calls me Mom started clicking on my computer. I asked him what he was looking at & he says "pictures of chickens" - so I rush over to see what he's doing. Yep, on the Meyer's webpage AGAIN!

NOW he's fallen in love with the Blue Laced Red Wyandotte!!!!!

I have to admit he's got good taste in chickens!!!! And this one isn't $$$$ at least!!!!!

I put 2 of these in my second order. They are a little over 2 weeks old now. Love to have their backs stroked. Seem the calmest of my group which include red stars, salmon favorelles, speckled sussex, blue americauna, and buff brahma and a barred rock.

can't wait for them to mature.
