Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I have to add a roost to the spot Peppy likes. Right now he is still roosting on the folded up dog crate. Sorry, Peppy, I need the crate.

Does it seem cruel and unusual to keep 3 chickens in a XL dog crate for 30 days? My quarantine plan is to isolate the two new ones for two weeks. If all looks good, add Kiwi (sorry, Kiwi) with a divider for the safety of the two littler ones and observe for 30 days. I'm thinking of building something temporary but nervous about the added cost.

Maybe you will know much sooner than 30 days. I would just plan for 30 but that would be max. As far as cruel? Think about egg factories. That's cruel. Your set up would be much better than that!! XL crates are pretty big!
Keep us posted:)

Thanks Nancy! I hope you're right. I still feel like the crate is better predator wise anyway. The crate is in the garage and anything I build will be no where near as safe because it would have to be temporary.

Somebody needs to take my internet away! After spending the day running chicken errands and working out in the coop (auto-water finally together and Peppy's roost up and painted).......I added a speckled Sussex to my order! Oh no! I was just realizing how many black, blue, and white chickens I'll have. Needed to balance with a little more brown. Plus, I've always admired them. shoot! Now, I will have to tell DH they gave me an extra...how did that happen??? :gig
