Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Awesome selection! I don't know much about the German Spithauben, but the others should be good layers for you. I'd say go for it! It's like having kids - one is a huge adjustment, two is twice the work, three doesn't add that much more, especially when you have them close together like I did! You would be just adding a little more craziness to craziness!
The German Spitzhauben isn't that great of a layer. I think only about 3 per week. But they tickled my fancy when I saw a picture and I kept coming back to them.

I needed some more black/white in the flock. I am just going to have to be careful and figure out a way to keep them grounded (clipping maybe) because I hear they like to fly.

I got a very sweet barred rock for the last meyer meal maker so i'm interested to see what it will be this time. :)

You certainly have the room to indulge in your "fancy". Good for you! Have you placed your order? What's the hatch date?

Just now clicked submit! Hatch date August 18. I think I'm done now.

You definitely have the room for that many birds (and more). I was at our local farm store yesterday and heard peeping. They had two large stock tanks full of chicks! Cheap too! $1.99 for straight run and $2.79 for pullets. They were a mix of breeds and of course the employees are no help but I saw some barred rocks, either white rocks or white leghorns, and some chipmunk ones so maybe some EEs. DH was with me and just looked at me like you've got to be kidding me. So I kept walking. :(

My husband would have done the same, well actually he did do the same in the Spring at TSC.

Those sure are great prices and no shipping!!! So tempting!!!

Thanks everyone... the GB is still sluggish. When I put her in front of the water she drinks but not eating yet. We'll see tomorrow. The Exchequer Leghorn (do we call them EL's?) seems to be ok!
The whole point of my order was to get some really good layers. My last order was pretty much eye candy, The CCL's and Brabanters and Silkie, so I need to add some good egg machines. So losing 2 out of 3 I will most likely get replacements and add a third. AND request a heat pack. It's only supposed to be in low to mid 80's next week and nights in the 60's so they will need it. I hope they will do that!

How are they today? Did you only lose the one?

I don't know if anyone remembers but my one BA has a completely bald head no matter what I do (Blu-kote, Peck no more and other stuff) and my CW's head is about half bald. I knew it was from getting picked on but couldn't see who it was. Well, I figured it out and its my fav. hen, my BR Henrietta. She had the BA pinned to the ground and put a big cut on her head and then at bedtime I watched them for quite a while and she just kept going after her. I can't imagine putting her in a crate will work and I'm thinking if I get rid of my BA and CW she will just start picking on another one. Sadly, she may have to go. Sigh....

I'm glad that you figured out who the culprit was but it is sad that it is your favorite one. I've heard that you should get rid of those in the flock that cause problems like that because they end up teaching others their bad habits. Good luck in whatever choice you make.

Thanks. I already did a live chat and they have over 500 GB available for next week so I will prob. get the 2 and add a third one of something else. Or maybe just 3 GB. Oh the tough decisions we have to make right? I asked at the barn I work at if she wanted any since it would be free shipping (that's where she got the chicks and they had mites and now her 2 Salmon Faverolle's died and we're treating for Cocci AND 2 are roosters so she went from 14 down to 10 pretty fast) but she can't deal with new chicks right now. I just figured it would be good to get a few extra to help them stay warm. I would think I could sell them on CL.
I'd be concerned to as MamaShell mentioned about cross contamination. That's great that you get to order more, I am getting jealous of all you people and those chick orders!
